The Most Common Causes of Bad Breath
While there are numerous causes of bad breath, the most common causes of it is in your mouth. The offending odour can originate from the far back of your tongue or your teeth and gums.
You can investigate the far back of your tongue by scraping it with a plastic spoon and comparing the smell of the spoon with the odour coming out from your mouth. Be careful though, don’t scrape too hard, because it may injure your tongue.
The other sources of bad breath in your mouth are your teeth and gums. In this case, bacteria activities in various sites of your teeth and gums such as margins, periodontal pockets, etc., are the ones responsible for producing the foul odour.
Last but not least, your bad breath can also be an indication of a gum or periodontal disease. In many cases, a gum disease can yield a higher degree of odour emanating from your tongue.
