What Causes Morning Breath?
So, you’re having a morning breath, that awful odour coming out from your mouth when you just wake up? Well, you’re not alone, almost everybody has it in some extent or another.
Bad breath in the morning is usually due to dryness in your mouth. When you’re sleeping, your saliva slow down or completely shut down, so your mouth don’t get the same level of oxygen as it does when it’s active.
This creates an anaerobic (absence of oxygen) environment that is conducive for bacteria that produces volatile sulfur compounds. These compounds are the ones responsible for your morning breath.
I don’t think you should worry too much about this kind of bad breath, because it usually dissapears when your saliva is flowing again, e.g. when you have eaten your breakfast. Drinking water to flush out the bacteria may also help.
